An acronym for Advanced Cardiac Life Support is ACLS. This is a level of care for patients in critical condition. It is also commonly used to describe the type of care for transportation.

For a ground ambulance, ACLS is a set up for critical care transport. BLS,on the the other hand, is a short form of Basic Life Support. Patients who need non emergency transport usually will take a BLS ambulance.

If you have an emergency and need an ACLS ambulance, pick up the phone and dial 9-1-1.

The differences between an ACLS and BLS transport are the kinds of drugs onboard and sometimes the size of the ambulance. ACLS ambulances can be bigger for more room for equipment and life saving drugs.
